Bridge City ISD Reports Continued Growth in College, Career, and Military Readiness

Bridge City ISD is proud to announce that the most recent College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) report from TEA shows a steady and significant upward trend in preparing students for success after high school.

• Fall 2022 – Class of 2021: 46% of graduates earned CCMR points
  
  

• Fall 2023 – Class of 2022: 59% of graduates earned CCMR points
  
  

• Fall 2024 – Class of 2023: 68% of graduates earned CCMR points
  
  

• Fall 2025 – Class of 2024: 78% of graduates earned CCMR points

Looking ahead, the district projects that 87% of the Class of 2025 will meet CCMR benchmarks, continuing this positive trajectory.

We are also seeing exciting growth in many Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, including Forensic Science (+56), Intro to Welding (+24), Health Practicum (+21), and Floral Design 3 (+16).

This growth in CCMR directly aligns with Bridge City High School’s recent improvement in state accountability ratings:

• 2024–25: B / 82

• 2023–24: C / 75

“These numbers confirm what we already know—Bridge City students and staff are committed to excellence,” said Dr. Mike Kelly, BCISD Superintendent. “We have embraced a ‘Best in Class’ mentality, where continuous growth and high expectations drive everything we do. Our students are leaving high school better prepared than ever for college, careers, or military service.”

Lindy Welborn, M.Ed., Director of CTE, College, and Career at Bridge City High School, added, “Our expectations for students are clear: we believe every graduate should leave BCHS with the tools and skills needed to succeed beyond high school. By setting the bar high and supporting our students every step of the way, we’ve seen tremendous growth—and we’re not slowing down. Our focus is on continued improvement and ensuring every student is future-ready.”

The district would also like to thank the Bridge City community for the overwhelming support shown in the 2022 bond election. The investments made possible by this bond have expanded the district’s capacity and provided cutting-edge technology to support trades, career pathways, and real-world learning experiences. The future workforce is training now inside Bridge City classrooms, and thanks to community support, BCHS students have access to best-in-class facilities that rival those found in colleges and industry.
